Finnish Music Startups goes global

In its current form the Finnish Music Startups is a little over a year old collective of 35 companies.

During the first year, we focused on starting up the operations, developing collaboration and communicating exclusively to media in Finland.

Now we are expanding our operations globally! This newsletter has been produced for the first time in English. It is also distributed internationally in collaboration with ranking website Startup100.net.

An introduction to Finnish Music Startups and all the companies involved can be found here. The collective's Facebook pages can be found here.

SingOn reinvents karaoke with 1.8 million euros

SingOn was founded in 2009 and it aims to reinvent karaoke.

SingOn just raised 1.8 million Euros to build the 3rd generation karaoke service. SingOn will introduce a Spotify-like streaming service and it will bring songs to the platform in a matter of weeks after their radio releases.

SingOn is planning to release their service on many different platforms. They want to make sure that the user doesn't need any extra equipment for karaoke. Singers can use smartphones and even TV remotes with built-in microphones for singing karaoke. And with the autotune feature even a bad singer can sound good.

The new version of SingOn will be launched on April 14th in the UK. It will be followed with an expansion to the US, Australia and New Zealand later this year.
